Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a physical form of exfoliation similar to microdermabrasion.
It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel (not as scary as it sounds!) to gently shave the skin's surface, removing the top layer of dead skin along with fine vellus hair. It also cleverly triggers the cell regeneration process, whilst helping to improve the appearance of things like acne scarring and hyperpigmentation. The effects of the procedure are instant in leaving your skin with a smooth appearance and a radiant glow. Along with the removal of fine hairs, it results in healthier skin that feels silkier.

Benefits of Dermaplaning
  • Increase absorption of topical products
  • Immediately diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Primes skin for chemical peel
  • Creates healthier, more radiant appearance.

FAQ

What are the lash extensions made from?
The lashes are made from a synthetic polyester material.

How long will the lash extensions last?
The lashes will last the full natural lash cycle of the lashes they are attached to, provided the correct aftercare is followed. All the natural lashes are at different stages of their life cycle at any given time so will fall out at different times when they will be replaced by the growth of a new lash. The cycle is between 6 to 12 weeks so by this time your lash extensions will have come out but this will vary from person to person.

Our lash extensions can be worn on a continuous basis requiring maintenance every 3-4 weeks. Lashes can also be worn as a one off for a special occasion and can be left to fall out with the natural lashes or professionally removed by us.

Do I need to have my eyelashes tinted before?
It is not necessary for you to have your lashes tinted prior to the application because both the adhesive used and lashes that are applied are black, giving a dark finish to the lashes. However, if your natural lashes are very pale it may be advisable to have a tint to help blend any fair lashes left un-extended and give a fuller look to the set. Tints should be carried out at least 24 hours before your appointment or they can affect the adhesive bond.

How long does the application take?
Our Lash services usually takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours for the initial set. This will include a full consultation to determine the look you wish to achieve. The infills take between 1-1.5 hours.

Can you describe the procedure?
The procedure is completely pain-free and so relaxing that many clients fall asleep. You will be lying down with your eyes closed while the I apply lashes to one natural lash at a time.

Can different looks be acheived?
Absolutely! I always carry out a full consultation taking in to consideration face & eye shape, make up looks as well as the quality of natural lashes. The extensions come in varying lengths, thicknesses and curls so I can design lashes that suit your specific needs and the look you wish to achieve.

I wear contact lenses, is this a problem?
Definitely not. I have many clients who are contact lens wearers and they find extensions preferable to mascara as there are no flakes or bits to fall in to the eye. We recommend removing your contacts before the procedure but they can be put straight back in afterwards.

Will I damage my natural lashes?
No, as long as the correct after care is followed. Our lash extensions are bonded directly onto the natural lash 1mm from the base so it doesn’t touch the skin. This means it does not interfere with the natural lash cycle allowing it to grow and fall out as normal causing no damage at all.

Is the adhesive used safe?
Yes, it is specially formulated for use around the eye area and manufactured in the UK. Your eyes remain closed throughout the procedure and the adhesive is only applied to the natural lash and doesn’t touch the skin.

Can you take the extensions off?
Yes. I can remove them easily for you. However, you must not attempt to remove them yourself as it may cause damage to the natural lashes if the correct procedure is not followed.

Can anyone wear Lash extensions?
The lash extensions can only be applied to a natural eyelash. Therefore this treatment is not suitable for someone who has partial or complete loss of their natural eyelashes.
